The concept of acting out dramas started many years ago. Ancient dramas were much more exaggerated than they are today. The original intent for the word "drama" meant "action," and could encompass many different forms of acting. Now, the term has come to be known as one certain type of acting, but that was not the case in older forms of the word. The drama of today is much different than dramas of ancient history.

The concept of acting out a story may have originated with the Greeks. They are the most famous civilization for the form of dramatic acting that is most commonly known today. In Greek theater, there were three different types of drama acting. The first was comedy, which was any story with a happy ending, usually meaning that the characters didn't die in the play. This was actually quite entertaining for the Greeks of the day. The second form of drama was tragedy.

This, of course, meant that one or more of the characters in the story died. This was one of the most popular forms of drama. The third type of drama was satire. Satirical plays were usually parodies of current political or otherwise popular figures. Those plays were probably similar to the Saturday Night Live show of today. The influence of drama had a far-reaching impact; much farther than just about anything else that came from Greece. When drama reached other countries, over time they each added their own particular flair to it. In Europe, things such as opera, mysteries, and the typical formula for Shakespearian plays were invented. Places such as Japan and India developed the concept of combining acting and dance together.

There are many different aspects to modern drama. Some common forms are: theatrical plays, musicals, TV drama, and movie drama. In ancient times, the theatrical productions were over-acted, usually because it was hard for people to see the stage. Now, however, realism is prized in drama. The drama style that is most appreciated is when actors and actresses can perform many different ranges of emotions and characters. When movies started being a big deal, awards were created to celebrate the talents of the best actors, actresses, directors, producers etc.

There were also many other types of awards for movies created as well. It is a fact that the average actor makes a whole lot more money than the average person. This is due to the fact that acting skills are quite prized in modern society. There are many fine acting schools located across the country and most colleges offer drama degrees as well.

It is easy to see how important acting and drama have become to the world since its conception. From its earliest years, drama and drama comedy has been important to each society. This is largely due to the fact that it is enjoyable to see fictional people get into situations in which the average person never would dream of being involved. The drama industry has really capitalized on that fact, coming out with thousands of stories that are larger than life. It is hard to imagine a world without drama, in theater and film.
